Devon's teeth chattered, snakebites cold against his lips. He wasn't sure how he'd gotten here, had lived in Bremerton..or Seattle, or something... But he'd been walking, running, hiding. Living off of birds. And then he'd reached the mountain, and the monster that had tried hurting him had chased him into a cave filled with water and ice. He whimpered, clothes drenched and freezing, curled up out of sight just in case. He'd never wanted Dylan so bad. And it was so cold he could hardly breathe.
Baby blue eyes flickered around, his breath billowing as he whimpered again, scrambling back fearfully at the sound of movement through the freezing water.

Lafayette walked slowly through the freezing waters, her shoes tied and slung around her neck in an attempt to keep them dry. She didn't know how long she'd been walking, how long she'd been going through waters and rubble and climbing. She didn't even know where she was going. All she knew was she had to keep walking, she had to keep going. People were going crazy, and she wasn't going to give up.
She bit her lip, hearing something move nearby. She hoped it wasn't another of the crazy people, didn't think she could take running anymore. "I'm just walking.." She said quietly, hoping whoever was there wouldn't attack her.

Devon swallowed, shrinking back even further as he trembled. A sniffle had him knowing he'd been heard, and he backed off into the shadows of the ice cave, blood smearing the ice whenever his right hand touched it, thiugh the cold numbed the pain there. He wasn't sure what he had cut it on. He'd been in the freezing, iced over weather a little too long, had walked way too long, strayed scarily far from home. He'd never even been here, just wanted to go back to the city. There weren't as many creatures out here, though. Another faint sniffle, tears falling childishly down his cheeks. He couldn't run anymore, was too cold. "Go 'way.."

Lafayette looked over into the darkness, then shrugged her shoulder. "Kay. Bye." She mumbled, slowly trudging through the water again. She didn't think she'd ever been so cold in her life, had ever been so numb. Every step was so difficult, she didn't think she could manage another. But until she fell over dead, she wasn't going to stop walking through this water.
She reached up, fixing the loose rope tied around her hair. Never before had she ever resorted to tying her hair back with a scrap of rope, but she guessed what she made of herself didn't count anymore.

Devon whimpered, just as afraid of being alone as he was of talking to a person. Shivering, he slowly managed to get to his feet and follow her, hiding whenever possible in an attempt to keep from being seen. His drenched tank top, jeans and sneakers chilled him to the bone. And, not paying attention, he bumped into her and yelped. He took several steps back in the freezing water, holding his cut hand out in question. He didn't know what to do with it, and realized now it had been a deep gash from before all this, when he had grabbed a knife from his brother's hand. All the climbing and the cold had split it open again. He gazed at her fearfully.

She looked back as he bumped into her, wanting to ask him if he liked people or not, because he obviously wasn't sure about whether or not he wanted her around. She looked down at his hand, then back up at him. She expected him to run away if she moved any closer, but she very well couldn't just leave him like this. She'd never do that to anyone.
"Are you going to /let/ me help you? Or are you going to tell me to leave again? Because you very well can't have it both ways." She said, listening to her voice echo for a moment before she spoke again. "I'm not out to hurt you. I just want to get out of here and to the next place."

Devon swallowed, gazing at her with glimmering eyes. "I'm sorry.." He whispered, his voice cracking. He reached with his good hand to touch at the medium sized stuffed animal sticking from his back pocket, stuck in place by being strapped against him with the belt around his jeans. "'M cold.." He mumbled, rubbing at scarred arms carefully before looking at his hand again. It wasn't bleeding too terribly.

"Well, I doubt my jacket's going to fit you.. But you can try." She said, shrugging off of her jacket. The sudden cold hit her, but she didn't dare show it. She held it out to him, shifting her weight so her legs wouldn't completely go to sleep on her. She pulled off the shirt she had over her camisole, and started to tear it apart, draping the scraps over her shoulder. She walked over to him, gently pulling his hand close so she could wrap it with the scraps of shirt. She tied the rest around his belt loop in case he would need them. "Be careful, okay?" She said before she started walking again, her arms wrapped tight around herself.

Devon stood still for her as she worked, mumbling a thanks. But then she was leaving again and he shuddered, trudging through the water until he found himself on solid footing and backed off, sneeking up to the next rut to hide as she walked. He didn't want the be alone, but he was terrified of her company. Or anyone's. He just wanted to go back, really. Hide somewhere closed and secluded.

She finally decided to give up, pulling herself up onto the dry land. She put her shoes down beside her, drawing her knees up in an attempt to keep some sort of warmth now that she'd forked over her jacket. But she would have done it even if they weren't in this prediciment. She shivered, pulling her hair down in hopes that it might warm her shoulders.

The jacket dropped to the ground beside her shivering body, Devon trembling some as he watched her hopefully. He sat down a little bit away, hugging his arms against himself helplessly. It was beyond cold, and he was tired and scared. He pulled the ratty stuffed cat from his belt and pocket and hugged it close, steady tears falling down his cheeks.
